PLANS 2006

RSS 2.0 Feed [?]

What is RSS?
RSS, sometimes known as Really Simple Syndication, is a popular means of sharing regularly updated content (such as news headlines) without requiring readers to constantly visit a Web site to see what's new. RSS "feeds," or summaries, contain titles, short descriptions, and hyperlinks to longer articles or Web pages, as well as a linked reference back to the originating site. Links in RSS feeds are updated automatically.

How does RSS work on the PLANS site?
The PLANS RSS feed will contain announcements regarding IEEE/ION PLANS 2008. These announcements will include reminders, updates and notices about the conference. By adding the RSS feed to your news reader software (see below), you will be notified of updates when you look at your reader software -- even if you don't visit the PLANS website.

What software is required to receive RSS feeds?
To use RSS, you will need a special RSS news reader or aggregator that will allow you to collect and display the RSS content. PLANS organizers do not provide the required news reader or aggregator. Several different news readers are available, many for free. Many news readers are Web-based services you sign up for that work inside your browser, others are applications that you download and install. Click here for an independent list of news aggregator applications from Google, or here for a list from DMOZ, the Open Directory Project. The conference organizers do not endorse or recommend any reader or application.

How do I subscribe to an RSS feed?
To subscribe to the PLANS RSS feed, simply click on the RSS icon found on the PLANS web menu. Your RSS news reader or aggregator should identify the element and add it to your reader. You may also right-click on the icon, select Copy Shortcut, and then manually paste the link in your reader or aggregator. Consult your reader's instructions for the exact steps to take.

What information is included in the PLANS RSS feed?
The PLANS RSS feed will include announcements about website updates and offerings, announcements regarding registration, paper submission, hotel reservations, etc.

It's not working. What do I do?
Due to the wide array of RSS reader software available, the conference organizers are unable to directly support your implementation of RSS. The PLANS RSS feed has been format checked by RSS content providers and has been validated as a properly formatted RSS 2.0 feed. Contact your software or service provider to resolve any difficulties you may be experiencing with RSS feeds.

RSS Terms of Use
These RSS Terms of Use govern your use of RSS. Any uses of RSS not granted herein are strictly prohibited. Prohibited uses include, but are not limited to: You may not edit or modify the RSS feeds in any manner whatsoever. RSS feeds may be used only with platforms with a functional link which takes the viewer directly to the full article on the Site. You may not insert any intermediate page, splash page, or any other content between the RSS link and the applicable article on the Site. IEEE/ION PLANS conference organizers retain all ownership and other rights in the RSS content and in any and all logos and trademarks used in connection with RSS feeds. If you provide attribution using a graphic, you must use the appropriate logo incorporated into the RSS content or feed.

Conference organizers reserve the right to cease offering any or all RSS feeds at any time or to require you to cease distributing any or all of the feeds at any time for any reason. Conference organizers assume no liability for your activities in connection with the RSS feeds or for your use of the feeds in connection with your Web site or any reader or aggregator software or service.
